Ownership & funding
ProvenBrief is independent and funded by advertising. No investor, advertiser or subject of coverage has any editorial say, and there is no mechanism by which they could.
Who publishes ProvenBrief
ProvenBrief is published by ProvenBrief Media. It began publishing in 2026. It is independent and entirely self-funded: not owned by, controlled by, or operated on behalf of any media group, technology company, political organisation or state body.
Editorial responsibility rests with Mohamed Said, Editor & Publisher, who is accountable for everything published here and reachable at hello@provenbrief.com. An automated newsroom does not dilute that: a named person answers for every story on this site, including the ones no human wrote.
The desks that carry bylines are described plainly in our masthead: they are editorial functions of an automated newsroom, not people, and we say so on every story rather than in the small print. How that works is set out in our editorial standards.
Where the money comes from
- Advertising — the whole of it, currently. Ads are served programmatically by Google AdSense. We do not choose which advertisers appear, and no advertiser can buy placement against a particular story, nor be told in advance what we are working on.
- Licensing — we offer syndication and reuse licences under our licensing terms. It is an open channel rather than a meaningful share of revenue; if that changes, this page says so.
What we do not take: no venture funding, no grants, no political or state money, no paid placements, no press junkets, and no payment of any kind from a company in exchange for coverage, timing or framing. There is no paywall and no subscription; the newsletter is free.
If any of this changes — a new revenue line, outside investment, a sponsorship arrangement — this page changes with it, in the same week. A funding disclosure that lags reality is worth less than none.
What advertising cannot buy
The separation is structural rather than a promise of good behaviour. Advertising is programmatic, so there is no salesperson with a relationship to protect and no advertiser identity known to the editorial pipeline at the time a story is commissioned, verified or published. Nobody can buy coverage, kill a story, delay it, or change a conclusion.
Sponsored or affiliate content, if we ever run it, is labelled as such in the story itself and never presented as editorial. We currently run none.
Conflicts of interest
We cover the AI industry, and we use commercial AI models to produce the newsroom — including models made by companies we write about. That is a real conflict and pretending otherwise would be the wrong move, so: our choice of vendor is made on cost and capability, we have no commercial relationship with any model provider beyond paying published API prices, and no provider has any visibility into or influence over our coverage of them. Where a story concerns a company whose technology we use, the story says so.
Corrections and complaints
Errors are corrected visibly, with a note on the story, under our editorial standards — write to corrections@provenbrief.com. Anything else, including a complaint about this page, reaches us here.
