The short version: we collect little, and we tell you exactly what.

What we collect

• Newsletter email addresses, if you subscribe — used only to send you the newsletter. Unsubscribe anytime; your address is deleted on request.
• First-party analytics (page views, referrers, performance metrics, error reports) collected directly by us — no cookies, no fingerprinting — to understand what readers find useful and keep the site fast.

Advertising & cookies

ProvenBrief serves ads through Google AdSense and uses Google Analytics to understand traffic; both may set cookies to personalize ads and measure usage. If you're visiting from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you'll be asked to choose before either loads — no ad or analytics cookies are set until you consent. Sponsored content, if any, is always clearly labeled.

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to ProvenBrief and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time:

• Google's Ads Settings turns off personalized ads served by Google.
• aboutads.info/choices (or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe) lets you opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising across participating networks.
• Declining in the consent dialogue shown on your first visit prevents any advertising or analytics cookie from being set. You can change that decision at any time using the Privacy & cookie settings link in the footer of any page, which reopens the same dialogue and clears the choice we had stored.

The cookies themselves

We set no cookies of our own. Everything below is set by Google, only after you consent, and only in the categories you allow:

• Advertising — set by Google AdSense and its ad partners to select ads, cap how often you see the same one, and detect invalid traffic. Governed by ad_storage, ad_user_data and ad_personalization in the dialogue.
• Analytics — set by Google Analytics to count visits and measure which stories readers reach. Governed by analytics_storage.
• Your consent choice itself — stored so we don't ask again on every page. This one is strictly necessary and is what the settings link clears.

Our own analytics — page views, referrers, performance and error reports — reach us through a first-party beacon that carries no cookie and no fingerprint, and is recorded against the page rather than against you. That is why it needs no consent and appears in no category above.

Ads on ProvenBrief are served by Google AdSense and by the advertising partners Google works with on our behalf. The current list of those vendors, and each vendor's own privacy policy and opt-out, is available in the consent dialogue and at Google's partner sites disclosure. We do not sell your data to any of them, and we run no other ad network.

What we don't do

• We do not sell personal data.
• We do not track you across other websites.

ProvenBrief's editorial content is produced by automated editorial systems under human governance, as described in our editorial standards. This disclosure is provided in accordance with applicable transparency regulations, including EU AI Act Article 50.
